# Connect Notion

> Connect Notion and select the exact pages that may support a repository's understanding checks.

Use maintained Notion pages to explain architecture, conventions, and product behavior. One shared connection can serve several repositories, each with its own exact page selection.

## Connect and share pages

You must be a Second Flow workspace owner to connect Notion or change a repository's selected pages.

1. Open **Context Gateway** in the [Second Flow console](https://console.secondflow.app/context).
2. Open the **Notion** configuration and select **Connect Notion**.
3. Authorize read-only access to the intended Notion workspace and choose the pages the connection may read.
4. Return to Second Flow and confirm the connection is active.

Notion sharing sets the connection's outer access boundary. You must also select pages for each repository in Second Flow. Sharing a parent with the connection may grant provider access to children, but it does not select those children for a repository.

If authorization is unavailable, [contact us](mailto:hello@secondflow.app) for help with your workspace's connection.

## Select repository pages

1. Open **Repositories**, choose a repository, and open **Context Gateway**.
2. Select **Configure** on the **Notion** card.
3. Choose individual pages under **Selected Notion pages**. Use **Filter shared pages** to find a title.
4. If a shared page is missing from the list, enter its full URL under **Add an exact page URL** and select **Add page**. Access is verified when you save.
5. Approve **I authorize selected page content for people who can access this repository’s understanding checks.**
6. Select **Save repository page scope** and verify that the source's switch is enabled.

A repository can save up to 20 exact pages. A generation retrieves at most five pages within the shared context limits, so keep the selection focused. Selecting a page does not include child pages, linked pages, databases, teamspaces, attachments, or embedded external URLs.

Audience approval makes selected page content usable by people who can access the repository's checks. Review this audience carefully for private pages.

## How pages are used

Second Flow reads permitted selected pages on demand when generating a new understanding check. It does not mirror the Notion workspace or poll for edits.

Updating a page does not rewrite existing questions or completed results. Fetched page bodies remain transient; questions retain references and fingerprints. Source-dependent work verifies current access and the original fingerprint, and reports changed or unavailable material.

## Change access or stop using Notion

Disable a repository source to pause retrieval while keeping its page selection. Disconnecting the shared connection stops future retrieval and preserves saved repository scopes for reconnect.

Reconnect to the same Notion workspace. To choose another workspace, delete the existing connection and its live scopes first. Reconnecting does not automatically enable a previously disabled repository source.

Deleting the connection removes its live repository selections. Second Flow does not edit or delete the original Notion pages.

## Troubleshooting

* **A page is missing:** Share it with the Notion connection, then reload or add its exact URL.
* **A URL is rejected:** Use the full `notion.so` or `notion.site` page URL and confirm it is shared with the connection.
* **A child page was not used:** Select it individually in Second Flow.
* **Reconnect required:** Ask the workspace owner to reconnect the same Notion workspace.
* **A page is too large or incomplete:** Choose smaller, focused pages. Retrieval reports limits explicitly rather than silently truncating content.
