# Context Gateway

> Select project knowledge that helps authors explain how a change fits the repository.

Context Gateway connects selected project knowledge used to ground understanding
checks. It complements the diff and surrounding code with relevant repository
guidance.

## Start with repository Markdown

Repository Markdown is the currently shipped provider. It uses the connected
GitHub App's repository access.

As a workspace owner, open the repository's Context Gateway configuration and
select Markdown files that describe architecture, conventions, or operational
behavior. Save the selection for that repository.

Prefer a small set of maintained documents. Useful examples include an
architecture overview, a service's operating guide, and a description of a
critical data flow.

## How context is used

Second Flow retrieves selected material when generating a new understanding
check. Repository content is read at the change-request head revision so it
matches the code being explained. Available sources are cited with questions.

Updating a source does not rewrite an existing check or completed result.
Disconnecting a source disables future retrieval while preserving allowed
historical evidence.

## Provider availability

Linear and Notion are implemented for controlled test deployments and remain
unavailable by default pending release qualification. Mintlify, Jira,
Confluence, and MCP Server are planned providers.

Use the providers available in your workspace. [Contact us](mailto:hello@secondflow.app)
if you need help selecting context or want to discuss another provider.
